Stirling Hinchliffe MP

I am proud to represent the Sandgate electorate in the Queensland Parliament and as a member of the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

Stirling is an experienced community advocate having first served as the State Member for Stafford from September 2006 to March 2012. During his first term, he served as a Parliamentary Secretary in social and economic portfolios. His second term saw his elevation to serve as Minister for Infrastructure and Planning (March 2009 – February 2011) and then Minister for Employment, Skills and Mining (February 2011 – March 2012). As a State Government Minister, he oversaw the development of affordable housing choices, a strong regional plan balancing economic growth and protection of our local environment and delivered employment programs including Skilling Queenslanders for Work.

Stirling lives in Sandgate with his wife Megan and their three children. Prior to his election as the State Member for Sandgate Stirling worked for a training company and has worked in public and private sector jobs and run his own small business.

In his local community, Stirling is a junior coach and committee member at Northside Wizards Basketball, a member of the Einbunpin Festival committee and has enjoyed volunteering with his family at SANDBAG – a local community centre.

Stirling is passionate about every Queenslander enjoying a fair go. To this end, he is committed to supporting quality education opportunities, universal health care and a growing economy creating new jobs.
